This week in freelancing
Last time I sent out this newsletter, way back on Sunday 06.08.25, I mentioned that I was stepping away from full-time freelancing to take a job as a Copywriter & Content Specialist at a marketing agency. (Which is also why I took a bit of a hiatus from the newsletter.)
It’s been exactly a month since I started the new job, and so far, so good.
I love the team I get to collaborate with, and I thoroughly enjoy the work I’m doing day-to-day. It’s a win-win.
One of the reasons I full-time freelanced for so long is because I typically don’t do well in a standard 9-5 environment … for a whole bunch of reasons.
But this job is unlike others I’ve had in lots of good ways. And I am just so thrilled to be here. (Yes, I am a nerd.)
In any case, I’ll share more about the job in future newsletters, in case you’re interested in that sort of thing.
Which I guess means I may have to rename this section from “This week in freelancing” to … hmm, I’ll have to give that some thought. 😊

Copy Resource of the Week: Copywriting Essentials Mini-Course
Programing note: Though I try to share copywriting resources in this section that are both stellar and don’t require an opt-in, it’s not always possible … and this one requires an opt-in, alas, just so you know.
As a working copywriter with many years of experience, I have not taken this mini-course myself, but I’ve been on Belinda Weaver’s email list and following her journey for 7-8 years, and she really knows her stuff. (You can learn more about Belinda and her background at the page linked below.)
Check out her free Copywriting Essentials Mini-Course, where you’ll learn how to:
:: Uncover benefits that matter while tapping into buyer motives
:: Write customer-centric copy and make your reader the star of the story
:: Edit the flab into FAB and turn lackluster copy into a lean, mean sales machine
:: And a whole lot more!

Just for Fun
I’m not a mom, so I’ve have never had to consider the question of “Career or kids – can I do both well?” I would think, “Well of course you can!” But I’ve never had to juggle the two, so what do I know?
Whether or not you’re a mom, this 7:41 second video is well worth watching. It’s funny and poignant, and Joan Darling is a hoot and a half. (And not everybody gets that extra half. 😉)
Video by filmmaker Shaina Feinberg [7:41]
This video asks: Is it possible to be a great mom and have a great career? The filmmaker Shaina Feinberg attempts to answer it.
Before Ms. Feinberg was born, her mother dreamed of a successful career as a performer — then gave up those dreams to raise her daughters. That loss still haunts her mother.
Now a mother herself, Ms. Feinberg is confronted with the same dilemma: Should she quit working as a filmmaker to be a full-time mom? Or keep doing a “depressingly bad job at both”?
The universe answers her in the unlikely form of Joan Darling, a 90-year-old director and actress and the first woman to be nominated for an Emmy in directing.

That’s it for this week, my friend.
As always, thanks for reading, I appreciate you!
Be well. Stay curious. See you again in two weeks, on July 27.
Warmly,
Kimberly
