Goodbye 2024!

Hey, hi, howdy, and welcome to Issue #33 of The Subhead, a bi-weekly newsletter about copywriting, marketing & media, and a look at some of the women who make it great.

In today’s abbreviated edition:

Goodbye, 2024 …

Ah, the end of the year.

When everyone, everywhere, all at once, seems to be exclaiming that you should make 2025 your BEST! YEAR! EVER! Start Now! Start Today!

Never mind that it’s technically still the holidays and you might want to enjoy just a leetle more well-deserved downtime with family, friends, or even yourself, before you “conquer” 2025 and go HAM on next year’s plans.

But no. We mustn’t relax! We must get busy now, like our very lives depend upon it. Apparently.

All joking aside, I started my 2025 planning a few weeks ago, in a very low-key way. A few notes here and there, some journaling and brainstorming about what I want to work on next year, 2025 folders set up, some loosely sketched out plans for 1Q, and so on.

Nothing is committed to planner or project management software yet. That’s what the coming days of early January are for.

And so it’s time to say goodbye to 2024. I hope you’ve had an incredible year, full of wins and successes, rest and relaxation, fun and frivolity, and all good things! 💖

And if you are one of those people who already have your entire 2025 planned out to within an inch of its life, I applaud you!

What’s coming up next issue

I’ve got no Trailblazing Women in Media or Copy Resource for you this week.

That’s for two reasons:

#1: I’m working on a special issue highlighting some of the best copywriting resources I’ve shared in previous editions of the newsletter.

I want to make this a jam-packed resource you can come back to when you need to write copy, with everything organized by copy asset you need to create – subject lines, emails, website copy, landing pages and so on.

When I started working on this project a couple of weeks ago, I thought, “This will be so easy to put together! I’ll send it out on 12/29!,” but alas, in my zeal to make things extra hard on myself, lol, it’s turned into quite the project. 😊

Anyway, that’s coming your way in two weeks, on January 12.

#2: I decided to wrap up the year by stepping away from my laptop for a few days instead of spending several hours writing a long end of year newsletter. November and December were extremely hectic for me with client work, which I just wrapped up yesterday, on 12/27.

So, after I upload and schedule this here email to go out, I’m going to blissfully step away from my computer for the next 3-4 days to read, Netflix, see family, eat many (more) Christmas cookies, and otherwise chill.

“See” you next year!

Just for Fun

Maybe one of your goals going into the New Year is to improve your ability to focus – it’s certainly one of mine.

If so, you’ll want to check out this article:

That’s it for this week, my friend.

As always, thanks for reading, I appreciate you!

Be well. Stay curious. See you again in two weeks, on January 12.

Warmly,
